The Friends of the Jefferson County Public Library is a county-wide organization of volunteers dedicated to enhancing the programs and resources of our libraries. We are people like you who cherish our Jefferson County Libraries and believe our libraries are an indispensable part of the community. We lend our voices, time and resources to insure quality library services. The Friends, working under the auspices of the Jefferson County Library Foundation, help support educational programs such as:

Summer Reading Clubs and other year-round programs in the areas of art, science, and culture to instill the love of literature in children and young adults.

Traveling Children's Library which bring books, materials, and services to children residing in under-served neighborhoods of Jefferson County.

Knott's Kids, a traveling interactive children's program with library books, materials and hands-on activities to create a unique opportunity for kids ages 6-12 to experience the wonder found in the pages of a book.

Coming Soon! "Spring Whale of a Used Book Sale", June 5-7
Come to the Spring Whale of a Used Book Sale and fill your shelves with gently used hardback and paperbacks priced from .50 to $2.25. You’ll also find a great selection of audiobooks, CDs, DVDs, videos, and maps. Collectible and better books in the Curiosity Corner are individually priced. Hours are Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, June 7 from 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free admission. To reach the Fairgrounds, take the Indiana Exit south from Sixth Avenue. Turn west onto the Sixth Avenue Frontage Road. Follow signs to the Fairgrounds. Sale floorplan

"Book Giveaways" to Designated Nonprofit Organizations
The Jefferson County Library Foundation and Friends has books leftover at the end of its June and October Book Sales that we "giveaway" to designated nonprofit organizations. These sales are held at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. If you are interested in picking up some of these books, fill out the form below. Also, organizations must provide volunteers to "box up" the residuals and provide adequate transportation. Four or five nonprofits will be selected to receive the residuals. If you are not selected, please consider applying for a future sale. More info
