Donate for a good cause!

Jefferson County Public Library (through the Jefferson County Library Foundation) accepts books, audiobooks, videos, CD's, DVD's and magazine donations year-round. Book donations help fund literacy programs such as the Traveling Children’s Library and the Summer Reading Club. Though all JCPL libraries accept book donations, each has limited storage space so we ask that large drop offs be made at the Lakewood Library, 10200 W. 20th Ave., on the east side of building next to the garage doors before you exit. Additionally, it’s helpful to give us advance notice if you plan on pulling up with a truckful! Just call 303-403-5075.

Public hours for dropping off donations at Lakewood are as follows:

Mon - Thu - 7:30 AM - 9:00 PM
Fri - 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Sat. 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Sun. 12:00 noon - 5:00 PM

Special Note on Magazines
Since more than 90 percent of the magazines we receive end up being recycled (because we have neither the storage nor space or "buyers" for the large volume we receive), we suggest that you consider "recycling" your non-current magazines at your local recycling center, check with schools, senior homes or reception areas for doctor’s offices for a better “home” for those magazines. Another suggestion is to list your items on Craig’s List or freecycle.org.

Current women’s, food, health, hobbies, travel, science, news, and National Geographic (excluding those from the ‘60s-‘90s) magazines sell best in our library used book sale areas. "Collectible" magazines from the early 1900s-1940s will be sold at the 'Whale of a Used Book Sale."
