Book Sales
Thank you for your interest in our used book, audio and video sales! Every Jefferson County Public Library features "Used Books for Sale" shelves, so if you don’t want to wait until one of our Whale of a Used Book Sale events, just visit any of our facilities. Note that the Friends’ Gift and Book Shop at Belmar carries the "best of the best" of our gently used books.
2010 Book Sale Events
March 5-6, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Mad, Mad Used Book Sale, Standley Lake Library
Gently used hardcovers, paperbacks and multimedia to help you quell your spring fever, all available at "mad" prices. Hardback fiction (normally $2.25) and paperbacks will sell for just a $1. Nonfiction books will be priced from $1 to $2.25. Children's from 50¢ to $1.00. Also available will be a selection of audiobooks, DVDs, CDs, videos, and books on CD from 50¢ - $5.00. Over 5,000 books to choose from including a small section of finer books priced as marked.
June 4-6, Spring Whale of a Used Book Sale, Jefferson County Fairgrounds
Over 95,000 books, audiobooks, CDs, DVDs, videos, maps and records. The Children's corner and Teen area located on the lower level has books from $.50 - 1.00. Most books from $.50 - $2.25, videos and CDs $1, DVDs $2.50. books on tape $2. Collectible and better books in the Curiosity Corner are individually priced. Sunday is "Bag Day." For only $5, you can stuff as many items into a bag. Held at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 15200 W. Sixth Avenue. Hours are Friday, June 4 and Saturday, June 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, June 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free admission. To reach the Fairgrounds, take the Indiana Exit south from Sixth Avenue. Turn west onto the Sixth Avenue Frontage Road. Follow signs to the Fairgrounds.
June 18-19, Children's Book Sale, Lakewood Library
Make a splash! Keep kids reading throughout the summer. A great selection of children's books from $.50 - $1.00 at Lakewood Library.
August 6-7, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., 10th Anniversary Used Book Sale, Belmar Library
Over 5,000 books to choose from. Most will be priced from $.50 - $2.50.

Registration opens at 5 p.m. Book "scanners" and other "book scouting" devices will be prohibited during the Thursday Preview Sale only. Open to the public Friday, October 22 and Saturday, October 23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, October 24 from 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free admission. Nov 19-20, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Holiday Whale of a Sale, Belmar Library
Over 2,500 "best of the best" gently used books for sale - great for gift giving. Cookbooks, art, history, fiction and classics, children’s, crafts and hobbies, inspirational, holiday books, gardening, travel, audiobooks, videos, CDs, DVDs and more. Sale held in the Belmar Library meeting room. Another 2,000 books and gifts in the Friends Gift and Book Shop located inside the library.
Dec 3, 10 a.m.-8:30 p.m., Holiday Whale at a Sale, Golden Library
2,000 used books and gifts for sale all day. Library stays open until 8:30 p.m. as part of the City of Golden’s Candlelight Walk event.
