The Jefferson County Library Foundation and Friends has books leftover at the end of its June and October Book Sales that we "giveaway" to designated nonprofit organizations. These sales are held at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. If you are interested in picking up some of these books, fill out the form below. Also, organizations must provide volunteers to "box up" the residuals and provide adequate transportation. Four or five nonprofits will be selected to receive the residuals. If you are not selected, please consider applying for a future sale.Though each sale varies somewhat, the largest number of books remaining at the end of the sale are adult books in the category of: hardback fiction (including mysteries), biographies, social sciences, "how to"; health, business, politics, law, literature, religion, education, and language. A very small number of children’s and teen books are left at the end of the sale. Therefore, only 1 or 2 organizations are selected to receive those books. You cannot "handpick" the books you want. At the end of the sale, a large team of volunteers (including the volunteers you are asked to bring) and community service workers will be boxing up all books between 3pm and 4pm. Those organizations selected must check in with the Foundation event coordinator by 2:30 pm Sunday and will be given specific directions on what books can be taken starting at 3pm.
Also, since we have an overflow of "hardback" adult fiction, we may offer these to designated nonprofits in between some of the sale dates.
